ASUMH is proud to recognize Jim and Jill Gaston for their generous contribution to the university.
Over the years, Jim Gaston has been one of the most active members of the state's tourism industry. He brings national recognition to the White River and the Ozarks. Jim was born in Illinois and first became acquainted with Arkansas' trout-filled White River when his father bought a 6-unit resort on the river. Gaston's Resort is now 800 acres offering 79 lodging units, tennis courts, a swimming pool, conference lodge, an extensive dock, a world-class restaurant and an air strip for private planes.
Among his many honors, Jim Gaston was named Tourism Person of the Year in 1985 and was inducted in the Tourism Hall of Fame in 1992. All who know Jim Gaston will agree with Richard W. Davies, Executive Director of the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism, who said, "You never have to wonder where you stand with Jim. On the Parks and Tourism Commission, he dispenses practical wisdom, laced with wit, always based in common sense. His are the standards by which many of the Commission's decisions are measured."
We are honored at Arkansas State University-Mountain Home to receive support from Jim Gaston and his family. We look forward to the future of the Jim and Jill Gaston Lecture Series and hope the Gaston Lectures will challenge new generations to think, reason and learn.
ASUMH is proud to recognize Arvest Bank for its generous contribution to endow this concert series.
We are fortunate in the Twin Lakes Area to be surrounded by businesses who invest in the region and care about its citizens. Through the Arvest Concert Series, new opportunities to enrich our lives are available.
It is with great pleasure that we honor Arvest Bank for their support of Arkansas State University-Mountain Home. We look forward to the future of the Arvest Concert Series and the joy and entertainment it brings to the area.
*The Arvest Concert Series and Gaston Lecture Series are presented each year free of charge to the community. ASUMH Performing Arts Series Patrons will have a reserved section at these events.
